Camera Color Temperature: How to Use Bi-Color & 5600K Lights Together
Jan 20th 2025
Properly setting up a shot requires that you adjust the color temperature of your camera, and you need to commit to a single setting before you roll. However, there are often multiple light sources with different color temperatures in frame, so how do you decide on the setting to use?
This video clearly explains the basics of color temperature in both lights and camera settings, it shows you how to use lights with different color temperatures together in a single shot, and how doing so can be visually pleasing and add warmth and authenticity to your scenes:
The key light that was used in this video is the Nanlite Forza 150B, an incredibly compact and lightweight bi-color LED spotlight that can run on a V-Mount battery or AC with the included power adapter. It’s small and light enough to fit in a backpack, it’s bright enough to be used as a key, and it has the versatility of an adjustable CCT range of 2700K-6500K.
