The original Nanlite PavoTube II 6C 10-inch LED tube is a small light that made a huge impact on the creative work of filmmakers, photographers, and creators of all kinds. It's one of the most popular and beloved Nanlite products, and today we're excited to announce the next generation: the new PavoTube II 6XR.

The visual design, size, and weight of the new 6XR is quite similar to the 6C, but the new model has several meaningful upgrades that make it an overall better creative tool. Here's the list of the key improvements...

How is the 6XR different from the PavoTube II 6C?

1. The 6XR has 10 animated pixel effects (in addition to 15 practical effects)
2. The 6XR has PD3.0 fast charging
3. The 6XR has an expanded CCT range of 2700K-12000K (the 6C has 2700-7500K)
4. The 6XR has green-to-magenta adjustment of ±150 (the 6C has ±100)
5. The 6XR has NFC technology that greatly speeds up Bluetooth pairing
6. The 6XR has 230 Lee and Rosco gel presets
7. The 6XR has DMX/RDM control
8. You can charge 8 of the 6XR at a time in a special Gutek T-230 hard case
9. The 6XR has CRMX LumenRadio built in

If there is a theme to the update, it is speed. The new 6XR lets you pair with your phone or tablet quickly with an NFT tap. If you deplete the internal battery, you can rapidly recharge it with a separately available USB-C PD charger. A 20-watt PD charger is the required minimum, but if you go for a higher wattage unit, your recharge times will be quicker.

What can you do with a wider CCT range?

The extended CCT range of the new 6XR lets you to create cooler white light. The upper range of the CCT is associated with sunlight, and the lower range is associated with warmer indoor lamp light. The extra high range of this new tube has bluer white light, which is considered "cool" rather than warm (there are plenty of warm options in the 6XR, too). Basically, this feature gives you more creative options.

Similarly, the pixel effects in the new 6XR bring lots of creative possibilities as well. They are the same animated pixel effects found in our PavoTube II 60XR, 30XR, 15XR, and T8-7X. They all can be deeply modified and saved as easily recallable presets in the free NANLINK app for iOS and Android. There are separate versions of our free app optimized for phones, iPads, and Android tablets as well.

What do you get with the Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR 8-Kit?

Besides coming with 8 of the PavoTube II 6XR LED tube lights, the new Nanlite PavoTube II 6XR 8-Kit also comes with a charging hard case and many additional accessories. The case is a customized Gutek T-230 hard case, which means it's dust-proof and protected against temporary submersion in water up to 1 meter. You can plug the case into AC to charge the attached 6XR tubes, or connect a DC 14.4–48V V-Mount battery via D-Tap, or a DC 15–48V USB-C power source.

There's a new power connector on the 6XR next to the recessed On/Off switch, which attaches to charging points on the Gutek case. There are also 2 USB-A ports on the case to charge additional devices. It also comes with 8 of the EC-PTII6C Eggcrate Grids, 4 of the transparent HD-T12-1-C Clips that have 1/4"-20 receivers for mounting, 4 Baby Pins with 1/4"-20 threads, a D-Tap cable, and a 1.5M AC cable.  

Advanced Control Options

The original PavoTube II 6C does not have DMX control, but the new 6XR does. The USB-C port can be turned into a DMX/RDM port with the addition of the separately available Nanlite CBDMXUSBC1/3 USB-C To DMX Cable. This adapter supplies 5-pin XLR male and female connectors, as well as a USB-C female connector so you can plug your PavoTube II 6XR into a power source, like AC, or a USB powerbrick.

Mount Anywhere, Light Underwater

Most of the accessories that are compatible with the PavoTube II 6C are also compatible with the 6XR. Want to minimize light spill on nearby surfaces and objects? Pick up a separately available Nanlite EC-PTII6C Fabric Grid. Want to run your tube in a rainstorm or underneath the surface of water? Like the PavoTube II 6C, the new PavoTube II 6XR has built-in magnets. This makes it easy to attach to metal surfaces. If you don't have metal surfaces available, these lights also come with 4 small metal plates. You just attach the metal plates to a surface with a little gaffers tape (sold separately), and you're good to go.

The 6XR also features 1/4"-20 mounts on both ends, and it has an industry-standard T12 diameter, so it's compatible with the widest possible range of tube clips, including the many popular tube-clip accessories made by Nanlite, like the Transparent T12 LED Tube Clip with 5/8in Baby Pin, the Transparent  T12 LED Tube Clip with Magnet, and many more.
