What's the Difference Between the PavoTube II 6C, 6CP & 6XR?

Nanlite currently offers three separate 10-inch PavoTube LED tube lights, and if you look at them side-by-side, they're incredibly similar to each other. This blog post was created so you can quickly understand what makes each of these models different.

The original version of this product is the PavoTube II 6C, which is still available today. It produces 36,000 different colors, has a CCT range for warm and cool white light, multiple effects, and it can be controlled by Bluetooth. But, all of these models do these things.

What makes the PavoTube II 6XR different is that it has "pixel mapping" effects. You can see this in the image above, how separate segments light up in different colors and animate across the tube. None of the other models can do this. It also has CRMX LumenRadio for advanced wireless control. The 6XR is the most professional version.

Think of the PavoTube II 6CP as an updated version of the original 6C. It has improved battery life, and a wider CCT range. The built-in magnets have a stronger grip, NFC for fast Bluetooth pairing, and the On/Off switch is physical, making it faster and easier to grab and use. You can also group several 6CP's together in the free Nanlink app and access 8 synced group effects.

To clearly see the differences in specifications between these models, refer to the chart below:

Which 10-inch Nanlite PavoTube should I buy?

If you want the most affordable option, get the original PavoTube II 6C from 2020. It was an incredibly popular light that spawned dozens of imitators, and it's still a great option today. If you can spend just a little more, bump up to the PavoTube II 6CP. It's the same light, but with over a half decade of improvements. On paper, the differences between these two lights doesn't seem dramatic, but the experience of owning and using it will be meaningfully better. If you're a pro, the PavoTube II 6XR is the best choice. In addition to its other advanced features, like DMX/RDM control, it has a dedicated charging pins for the Gutek Charging Case, which comes with the PavoTube II 6XR 8-Kit.

The Accessories Fit All 10-Inch PavoTube Models

No matter which of these PavoTubes you decide on, the accessories for these tubes are compatible with all of them. The AS-WB-PTII6C Waterproof Bag let's you use any of these tubes underwater. The EC-PTII6C Fabric Grid is an eggcrate that slides on these tubes and helps to reduce light spill. Should you end up with several of these tubes, the CCSPTII6C Case holds six of them and accessories. All of these tubes have a standard T12 diameter, so they work with any Nanlite tube clips.
